ONHYM
Information
The National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) was established on 17 August 2005 by the merger of the Bureau of Research and Mining Participations (BRPM) and the National Office for Research and Petroleum Explorations (ONAREP). Since their inception in 1928 for the BRPM and in 1981 for the ONAREP, these two organizations have been pioneers and leaders in Morocco in their respective fields, and have benefited from a high reputation among international operators.
ONHYM is a public institution with legal personality and financial autonomy. The Office is subject to the State supervision, which is to ensure compliance by the competent bodies of the Office of the provisions of the law 33-01.
Missions
• Lead research, exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbon or mine fields, except the phosphates;
• Promote any action that would contribute to the development of the exploration and the exploitation of hydrocarbons and mineral substances, especially in the frame of a partnership with private sector;
• Elaborate and make accessible database on national subsoil mineral and hydrocarbon potential and on administrative, financial and legal devices of the country;
• Negotiate the terms and conditions of different joint agreements, cooperation or partnership.
